Hai Shan Gong-Kukup / 海山宮-龜咯

Hai Shan Gong-Kukup / 海山宮-龜咯.

Location:- Kukup, Pontian, Johor / 龜咯, 笨珍, 柔佛.

Walking along the row of shop houses after breakfast in this small Kukup town, we decided to explore another section of this fishing village.
This section of the village is located opposite of the main road from where we stayed earlier.

Moving inner into this village along the small 4-5feet wide pathway build on stilts, we came upon this temple that has a Na To Gong / 嗱督公 shrine build by its side.

It’s main altar consist of three section. The section to the left is devoted to worshiped of the fertility goddess Zhu Sheng Niang Niang / 注生娘娘. This deity, as the name suggest, is in-charge of pregnancy and smooth delivery of infant. So if any of you who has been trying to conceive but to no success, this would be the deity to pray to.

The center section of the altar is devoted to Da Bo Gong / 大伯公 and Tian Hou Sheng Mu / 天后聖母.

And the section on the right is devoted to the worship of Huang Fu Wang Ye / 黃府王爺.

On an extra note, uniquely in this area, much of the village home around here worshipped the deity Da Bo Gong / 大伯公 on their altar and some houses would also hang a small incense pot at the front in respect of Tian Gong / 天公, the Heavenly Jade emperor.
