Guan Yin Gu Si-Ampang Pecah / 觀音古寺-老古毛

Guan Yin Gu Si-Ampang Pecah / 觀音古寺-老古毛.

Location :- Ampang Pecah, Selangor / 老古毛, 雪蘭莪州.

This temple has a long history dating back to 1904. It was known that this temple survived the great flood when the dam nearby burst it’s banks in 21 December 1926. In this great flood, the old town of Kuala Kubu were totally sunken by mud and sand. And due to it’s strategic location, this temple has been able to save much life’s back then.

After doing some searches, it was said that, during the malayan emergency, the deities were moved to a newly build temple as the area were consider forbidden to avoid the locals from helping the communist.

It was only in the 80s, the original temple location has been rediscovered and it is rebuild with the assistances of Kek Lok Si temple committees from Penang.

It’s surrounding is very nice as there is a small lake by the side of the temple. There is quite a few altar in the main prayer hall with a beautiful laughing Buddha at it’s entrance. I’ll let the photos do the talking.

A more accurate coordinate to this place should be 3.5370, 101.6630,

Yue Shan Gu Miao-Kuala Kubu Baru / 岳山古廟-新古毛

Yue Shan Gu Miao-Kuala Kubu Baru / 岳山古廟-新古毛.

Location :- Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor / 新古毛, 雪蘭莪.

Commonly known as Yue Shan Shi Ye Gong /岳山師爺宮.

This temple was build in 1895. I came to know that this place was originally called the Xian Si Shi Ye Miao/ 仙四師爺廟 but now it is more commonly known as Yue Shan Shi Ye Gong /岳山師爺宮. This would be the ninth Shi Ye temple build after the first in Rasah, Seremban.

If it is true that this place has been build in 1895, then this temple would have seen the second big flood at Kuala Kubu in 1926 since it is located on higher grounds.

On the main prayer hall, there is three main altar. The altar on the left is devoted to Ruan Gong Sheng Fo / 阮公聖佛 and Liang Gong Sheng Fo / 梁公聖佛 along with a smaller statue between them which i believe is the female deity named Wen Shi Zhen Xian / 文氏貞仙.

It’s center altar has two huge statues, On the left is Si Shi Ye / 四師爺 while the other on it’s right is called Xian Shi Ye / 仙師爺. Together, they are more commonly known as Xian Si Shi Ye / 仙四師爺. And the last altar on the right is devoted to Goddess Guan Yin / Guan Yin Pu Sa / 觀音菩薩. There are also a few smaller altar that consist of other smaller deities in this temple. Among the deities are Bai Hu / 白虎, Tai Sui / 太歲, etc..

This small village is not far from Kuala Kubu Bharu and we decided to scout around till we came upon this temple facing the hills. I believe this place is establish or build in 1975 as indicated on the signage and on an old committee photo hanging by the wall.

There is a three section altar in the main hall. The altar on the left is devoted to Jin Hua Fu Ren / 金花夫人. The altar on the center is devoted to Goddess Guan Yin / Guan Yin Pu Sa / 觀音菩薩 while the altar on the right is devoted to Lord Guan Di / 關帝.

Tian Hou Gong-Kampung Cina / 天后宮-唐人街

Tian Hou Gong-Kampung Cina / 天后宮-唐人街.

Location:- Kampung Cina, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu. 唐人街, 瓜拉登嘉楼, 登嘉楼.

Facing the Kuala Terengganu river, this historical building was build with material and craftsman from china in 1896 during the reign of Emperor Guang Xu / 光緖帝 of the Qing Dynasty. Probably a century ago, Chinese fisherman’s whom stay inner land by the river banks would come here and pray for blessing before they travel out to sea. The mural on the walls are still intact but it would need some restoration works as the elements has taken it’s toll.

There is three altar on the main hall. The left altar has two tablet on it, one tablet is devoted to the wandering souls and the other tablet are devoted to 108 brave men that lost their lives at war. The center altar is devoted to Shui Wei Sheng Niang / 水尾聖娘 / Goddess Shui Wei on the left and Goddess Tian Hou / 天后娘娘 on the right. And the altar on the right is devoted to Lord Guan Di / 關帝 and Fu De Zheng Shen / 福德正神.

I came to know from googling that in 2003 this temple was nearly acquire by the state government for the Sungai Terengganu waterfront beautification project but the decision was reversed due to public’s outcry against the move. Now, that’s a blessing.
