A Luan Tou Map / 巒頭圖
aka Landform Map.
On this nice sunny day, and as usual, we took a drive to the cemetary in Kuala Lumpur to do some research. And Lucky me, I found this crack marble that contains important infomation about this tomb.
Inscribed onto this piece of marble is a Luan Tou Map / 巒頭圖, also known as a landform map. It shows the hills and mountains surrounding this particualr tomb. There are other inscription on the side but it was very difficult to make out as some of those characters has eroded away.
Examining it further, i found that the mapping of its surrounding is actually quite accurate when compared to Google Earth. I am not too sure on how fengshui masters could have map all the terrain back those days but he definitely did good making this map. Much of the smaller hill shown on the map has already been developed and its quite difficult to make out which is which. If it wasn’t for the old british terrain map that i’ve kept during my earlier research, it would have been much more difficult.
Some of the known hill found on it includes Genting highland, Batu Caves, Bukit Dinding and also Bukit Tabur.
This type of drawing is usually found in old feng shui text. At a glance, this look like a treasure map to an ordinary person but to a feng shui person, this map shows how Qi flows in to this particular tomb. According to a feng shui friend, back those days, a good master should have no problem locating the grave just by looking at the map.
The map on this marble is already 80+ years old today. It was fortunately the cracks wasn’t too bad as I was still able to repair it with photoshop.
This is one of those discovery that I have made over the years. I decided to share it here for feng shui enthusiast to research the Luan Tou / 巒頭. This tomb is Sitting Chen/辰 and Facing Xu/戌 on the Earth plate.

Great sharing! Sitting Chen facing Xu just reminded me of another tomb I read about LiuJiangDong. Have time will blog about it. 🙂
