Nan Tian Gong-Ulu Yam / 南天宫-烏汝音.
Location:- Ulu Yam Baharu, Selangor / 烏汝音, 雪蘭莪.
Its been a good day travelling. Following the route, we came upon a few rows of shop houses. My quick eye spotted a old Pai Lou in between the set of shop houses and we decided to follow it through the small lane to this temple. This temple is located next to a huge grass field. I was very happy being at this place at the right time. Herds of cows were feeding themselves on the fields and children’s playing around while their oldies look on. A stage is builded not far away for operas during its festival. It was mention by the locals that this temple was establish more than a century old (140year old according to a newspaper cutting found in the temple) during the tin mining days by the miners residing here. I could’t confirm this as there wasn’t any further info i could obtain. If you have more info about this premise that you could share, I would appreciate it.
On the main altar, a drawing of an auspicious ancient mythical creature known as Qilin/Kei Lun/麒麟 is painted as its background. Worship on the main altar of the temple are their patron deities known as Lin Fu Tai Shi / 林府太師 and Ma Fu Yuan Shuai / 馬府元帥. Flanked by huge drawings of Si Da Tian Wang / The Four Heavenly Kings / 四大天王 on the side wall. These heavenly kings has been known to be Guardians and protects the premise from spirits and demons. An altar to the left is dedicated to Goddess Guan Yin / Guan Yin Pu Sa / 觀音菩薩 and another altar to the right is dedicate to Fu De Zheng Shen / 福德正神 also known as Da Bo Gong / 大伯公. A unique sight of this temple is of the huge drawing of the 18 Luohan / 十八羅漢 on the higher side wall. The drawing of the 18 Luohans are so impressive as like it was done in 3 Dimensional. Beside the Heavenly Kings and 18 Louhan’s, there’s also other wall painting’s that symbolize auspiciousness on its interior walls.
