Flooded Temple by Perak River

Flooded Temple by Perak River.

Location:- Teluk Intan, Perak /安順, 霹雳州.

This is a temple that is located next to Perak River. By the time I arrived, the tide has risen and causes the place to be flooded by the river water. It was flooded so badly till I could not get nearer to the premise to identify the temple’s name and deities.

I don’t know if global warming, river diversion or urban development contributed to this. But it’s definitely sad to see this happening to a place of worship. 🙁 . Perhaps a discussion with the local authority would help.

Maybe in the near future, I will discover it’s name and problem. Then again maybe it would not be there anymore.

If opportunity permits, I will update this post. 🙂

Attach here is two photos taken, one with the iPhone for the coordinate and the other is taken with a 55mm lens for a more closer view.

Guang Dong Gu Miao-Teluk Intan / 廣東古廟-安順

Guang Dong Gu Miao-Teluk Intan / 廣東古廟-安順.

Location:- Teluk Intan, Perak / 安順, 霹雳.

This temple is located in the town of Teluk Intan, Perak (霹雳安顺区). It was build in 1889.

The main altar worship the goddess Guan Yin Pu Sa / 觀音菩薩 in the center, Xuan Tian Shang Di / 玄天上帝 on the right and San Wang / 三皇 on the left.

A committee member of the temple told me the statue on the side is Xuan Tian Shang Di and Sam Wang as the statue are too old, plus covered by a cape making it difficult to be identify by myself.

The San Wang mention above could be San Wang(三皇) that consist of Yao(堯), Shun(舜) and Tai Yu(大禹) also commonly know as the Three Sage King or it could be San Shan Kuo Wang / 三山國王. (A Hakka peoples god which to my knowledge, are sometime worship as a single deity)

At the side, there is also an altar that worships a few Hindu deities.

The temple festivals is on the 19day of the 2nd lunar month(二月十九日), 19day of the 6th lunar month(六月十九日) and on the 19day of the 9th lunar month(九月十九日).

Dong Hai Lung Wang Tan-Teluk Intan / 東海龍王壇-安順

Dong Hai Lung Wang Tan-Teluk Intan / 東海龍王壇-安順.

Location:- Teluk Intan, Perak / 安順, 霹雳.

Pronounce as Tong Hoi Loong Wong Than in Cantonese.

Driving along the Malaysia Federal Route 58, we saw this temple which is under construction and decided to stop by. To my astonishment, it is facing the Perak river. It has a huge front for celebration and prayers. The old temple is resided next to this newly build premise.

In the old premise, the main altar sits the deity of Di Zang Wang Pu Sa/ 地藏王菩薩 And on the side, Da Er Bo Ye / 大二伯爷.

As the signage suggest, There should be Hai Lung Wang / 海龍王 worshipped in this temple. During this visit, I did not see any Lung Wang Statue in this premise. Maybe when the new temple completes it would be place in it.

Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan

Location: Teluk Intan, Perak / 安順, 霹雳州.

The township Teluk Intan was formerly known as Teluk Anson which is also known as Teluk Mak Intan before that.

It is rumoured that the tower was constructed for feng shui reasons.

It is said that a rich Chinese merchant who controlled the trade along the Perak River consulted a feng shui master who advised him to build a huge storehouse at this strategic location with a commanding view of the traffic coming downriver in order to strengthen his business.

Upon hearing this, the British District Officer was disturbed and to counteracted the move. He consulted another feng shui expert who suggested the building of the clock tower.

This tower lean towards South west and south west to certain school of feng shui means the devils back door.
