Tian Hou Gong-Kuala Lipis / 天后宮-瓜拉立卑.

Location:- Kuala Lipis, Pahang / 瓜拉立卑, 彭亨

Kuala Lipis town, It’s been a while since I last visited this place. This temple was already closed when we arrive in the evening.

Devoted to the Goddess Tian Hou / 天后娘娘, this temple has an unique doorway with the shape of a wu lou / 葫蘆 and was build around 1898.

Will definitely return in future for more photos and writeup.

Dou Mu Gong-Kuala Lipis / 斗母宮-瓜拉立卑

Dou Mu Gong-Kuala Lipis / 斗母宮-瓜拉立卑.

Location:- Kuala Lipis, Pahang / 瓜拉立卑, 彭亨.

This temple is officially open to public in 1994. With a large hall and stage in front for it celebration and festival purposes. I was told that this is the only Dou Mu Gong in Kuala Lipis and this temple is one of the only two Dou Mu Gong currently in the state of Pahang. The other was said to be in Kuantan. Like all Dou Mu Gong, the temple will host it’s Nine Emperor God / Jiu Huang Da Di / 九皇大帝 celebration/festival on every first to ninth day on the nine month of the chinese lunar calendar. A large Na To Gong / 嗱督公 shrine is also build next to this temple.

On the inside, they have three altar. The center altar is devoted to Dou Mu Yuan Jun / 斗母元君. Sitting elegantly on her right is lord Guan Di / 關帝 and on her left is the black face Fa Zhu Gong /法主公. There is a room right behind this center altar that is forbidden to outsiders, probably this is the room where they house the temples relics or it could be an altar for it’s Nine Emperor God / Jiu Huang Da Di / 九皇大帝.

The left altar is devoted to Goddess Guan Yin / Guan Yin Pu Sa / 觀音菩薩. While the altar on the right has a few deities namely from left to right, Fu De Zheng Shen / 福德正神 (aka Da Bo Gong / 大伯公), Tian Du Yuan Shuai / 田都元帥 (General Tian Du), Xuan Tian Shang Ti / 玄天上帝, Qi Tian Da Sheng / 齊天大聖 ( Monkey God) and Bao Sheng Da Di / 保生大帝.

Guan Yin Si-Penang / 觀音寺-檳城

Guan Yin Si-Penang / 觀音寺-檳城.

Location:- Burma Road, Penang.

Walking along the row of shops at Burmah Road (now known as Jalan Burma ) in the evening brought my attention to this brightly lit temple. Thinking that the side door is still open, I decided to go in for some photos. But was kindly told by the caretaker that the rest of the hall has been cleaned up and closed for the night so I decided to return the next day.

This temple houses three different hall devoted to different gods. The center main hall has 3 altars, the center altar is devoted to Goddess Guan Yin / Guan Yin Pu Sa / 觀音菩薩. The altar on it’s left is devoted to Guan Di / 關帝 or it’s Buddhist name called Qie Lan Pu Sa / 伽藍菩薩 (along with other deities) and the altar on the right is devoted to Wei To Pu Sa / 韋陀菩薩 along with other deities.

The left hall is devoted, if correct to Cheng Huang Ye / 城隍爺 along with it’s huge Da Er Bo Ye / Tua Dee Ya Pek / 大二伯爷.

The right hall called Dou Mu Gong / 斗母宮 is devoted to Dou Mu Yuan Jun / 斗母元君 and her sons, The Nine emperor god / Jiu Huang Da Di / 九皇大帝.
