Location:- Jalan Sawah Lebar, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. 瓜拉庇劳, 森美兰.

Stopping by for a drink in Kuala Pilah. And coincidently we met a local who is also a travel agent. We had a small chat and she pointed us to a few chinese temples and this is the only one open on that apparent day.

Upon arrival, we were quite happy with it clean and big surrounding. It has a flat land with a large tree on the side. Very much good for shading. There is a Na To Gong / 嗱督公 shrine and incense furnace on the side of the main building. We were greeted by the the caretaker/master of the temple by the name of Master Lee / 李金標壇主 and he was nice enough to show us around and explained much about this temple. This temple has three very elegant wood crafted chinese altar.

The main center altar has three section. Sitting on the center of it is Xuan Tian Shang Ti / 玄天上帝. On it’s left is Fa Chu Gong /法主公 and on it’s right is Guan Di / 關帝 along with other smaller sized deities surround them.

The second altar on the Left is devoted to Da Bo Gong / 大伯公 and the third altar on right is devoted to the Thousand Hand Guan Yin / Qian Shou Guan Yin (千手觀音)

San Sheng Gong-Kuala Pilah / 三聖宮-瓜拉庇劳

San Sheng Gong-Kuala Pilah / 三聖宮-瓜拉庇劳.

Location:- along Jalan Dato Undang Johol, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. 瓜拉庇劳, 森美兰.

Decided to take a leisure drive on the trunk roads and it brought us to this small town in Negeri Sembilan call Kuala Pilah. While searching for a place to drink, we came upon a garden beside the main road that has a chinese gateway arch on it. There is also a Chinese temple across the main road .

This gateway arch was erected by the grateful people to the memory of the Honourable Martin Lister, who was back then a british resident in Negeri Sembilan. More information about this person can be found on wiki.

Behind it, a wall with words engraved on a piece of marble that gives detail of the land owner whom is a British resident here named W.Smith declaring that this piece of land is used for a Chinese Pleasure Garden. Dated 1901. You could see the old name Kwala Pillah on it.

Moving across to the temple compound, i could clearly see the design of the temple building been build around the early 1900s. On the temple wall is another piece of engraved marble. Written on it are detail of the Reservation of land for a public purpose under the Land Enactment law 1897 which states clearly that a total of 9600 square feet land area was given to the residents here for the site of a Chinese temple, so as long as used for that purpose only. Dated 1900.

Upon entering the main temple, there is an altar for Da Bo Gong / Tua Pek Kong / 大伯公 on the left and an altar for Men Shen / 門神,The Door God on the right.

In the inner hall, The main altar worship Guan Ti (Guan Gong / Guan Yu / Kuan Ti / 關帝) the god of war along with Guan Ping / 關平 on the Right and Zhou Cang / 周倉 on it’s Left. Additionally, there is an altar on the Left which is devoted to the boy deity Tam Gung / 譚公 and the altar of the right is devoted to Si Shi Ye / 四師爺. All the altar in this temple has an antique crafted tablet of the respective deities.

This temple is more than a century old. The craft works on the main altar plus many of it interior is very antique. Old banner and signage are seen hanging on the walls. They have many replica tools used by heavenly deities and tools used by medium which is displayed in the main hall too. Definitely an experience.

This is another chinese temple along Jalan Muar / 麻坡路 that has a huge and unique Pai Lou / 牌樓 by the side of the main road.

Just beside the temple, there is a huge hall and a stage for functions and festival. And also a peculiar designed joss paper furnace on it’s front.

On it’s main altar is a deity that is rarely seen. I presume they are knowns as Zhu Xing Li San Wang Ye / 朱刑李三王爺 or also known as Zhu Xing Li San Wang Fu Da Ren / 朱刑李三王府大人. Unfortunately, I was kindly ask not to post the picture of the deities up close.

Entrance from the side of the outer altar leads you to the inner hall. There is an altar dedicated to the Goddess Guan Yin / 觀音菩薩. And on the side hall way, there is frames of black and white photos of the temples celebration / festival in the past that really excites me. These old photos are rarely seen and becoming a thing of the past.

Since they are currently doing some renovation to the temple, I’ll be sure to revisit when it’s done.

26 April 2011 – Information below is contributed by Mr. See Boon Heng.

On the Outer Hall, Standing at the Front row of the main altar is Zhong Dan Yuan Shuai / Shan Tai Zhi / 中坛元帅(三太子). On main altar, from left to right: Bao Gong Da Ren / Justice Bao / 包公大人, Yang Fu Wu Ye Gong); / 杨府五爷公, Li Fu Qian Shui / 李府千歲, Yang Fu Yuan Shuai / 杨府元帅, Xing Fu Tian Wang / 邢府天王, Zhu Fu Shen Jun / 朱府圣君, Guan Di Shen Jun / Guan Gong / 关帝圣君 and Da Bo Gong / 大伯公.

Jin Hai Dian-Bagan / 金海殿-峇眼.

Jin Hai Dian-Bagan / 金海殿-峇眼.

Located along Jalan Muar, Bagan, Johor.

Upon arrival, I was quite surprise of how it look from the inside out. With a well kept space that is surrounded by coconut trees, i suppose one can enjoy the tranquility of this place in the night. It has much space on the side and back for future extension and developments.

A locals devotee said this place was build in 2008 with the help of its surrounding community. Been build just a few years ago, things are still very new and beautiful. Also, i was told that the beach not far behind here is very beautiful but unfortunately it was getting late and I have got a few more visits before we head back to the hotel. Probably on my next visit.

Worship on the main altar from left to right, Zhu Fu Wang Ye / 朱府王爺, Jin Fu Wang Ye / 金府王爺, Chi Fu Wang Ye / 池府王爺, Xing Fu Wang Ye / 邢府王爺 and Li Fu Wang Ye / 李府王爺.

The altar on it’s left is for Fu De Zheng Shen / 福德正神 also known as Da Bo Gong / 大伯公 and the altar on it’s right is for Zhu Sheng Niang Niang / 註生娘娘.
